Great overview! Also important to consider is a warming climate could resurrect bacteria that have essentially been in stasis for thousands, or millions of years... potentially introducing new genetic information into extant communities. I wonder how much, if any, research has been conducted on the reintroduction of frozen DNA into metabolically active populations...
