The new STC logo was adapted from this photograph of Physarum polycephalum.

We take advantage of this being the season for rejoicing, whoo-hoo! , and take our annual winter two week vacation. When we return in 2019, we will enter the 13th year of Small Things Considered. And we do so for the first time with our own logo!
Our new logo, for those that are guessing, was created from a photograph of a once living plasmodial network: the macroscopic feeding stage of the slime mold Physarum polycephalum. We also like how the branching slime mold network resonates similar patterns seen in fungal mycelia, and among the tree of life itself.
We will endeavor to be as exploratory as a slime mold as we continue to share the endless faculties and fascinations of microbial organisms.
P.S. Did you know that we have a twitter account now as well? We encourage you to follow and interact with the STC team @STCmicrobeblog.
