I am a native of Spain, where I got my BSc in Biological Sciences at the University of Oviedo. I came to the US for my Ph.D., adamant to do research in environmental microbiology. And I have continued to do so ever since. I share with Elio and Merry a love for everything microbial and science communication, so it is a pleasure to contribute to this fantastic blog. As you will see from my posts, I cannot help myself from digging into the why of microbial behaviors and what microbes gain from them in the short and long term. Somehow, I always find a way back to the environment! I am also very interested in interdisciplinary science and the possibility of advancing microbial science using physical and engineering approaches. These are exciting times in microbiology, with tools at our disposal that were unimaginable not that long ago. I am delighted to bring samples of this to you through the blog.
